Heat And Dry Mounting

Dry mounting is a process that utilizes a special adhesive to attach paper art to conservation foamboard to prevent bubbling or to help keep art flat after having been rolled up for long periods. Heat mounting is essentially the same process; however a thin sealing tissue is placed between the art and foamboard and is activated using a Mounting Press. The tissue permanently seals the art to the foamboard, helping to eliminate wrinkles, folds, creases or any other damage that can happen to paper art. Heat mounting can also serve as an inexpensive alternative to custom framing, and is great for posters or maps. The art can be hung directly on the wall with a small hook attached to the foamboard, eliminating the need for tacks or tape. (This process is not recommended for original or valuable art.)
