Gary Holliday - Real and Non Real Distractions

Gary Holliday Bio

I was born in 1954 in Miami Beach, Florida. At the age of 4 I started drawing everything I saw. In grammar school the teachers were always after me to construct their school bulletin boards. Later I was asked to represent my school in all its art faires.

Realizing my talent, my parents enrolled me in Le Monge Fine Arts School, a private foundation school for the visual arts.

In high school I won an all state arts competition in Florida. I also received the distinction of Best Art Student in the entire high school.

I was accepted at Florida State University and enrolled in the fine arts program. With full support from the faculty I was allowed to take on graduate classes as an undergraduate. I later received my Master of Fine Arts degree. During this time I also received a stipend to teach drawing classes and grants to produce sculpture.

After graduation I did apprenticeships with various internationally known artists from Canada, England and France.

My works have been collected by many on the east coast as well as some on the west coast. I also have had my work published in magazines.
